Our independent McKenzie Friends work with you at a personal and confidential level to assist you and your family to obtain a positive result in Family Court.
Although we may make a charge for our service we cannot guarantee the outcome for you and it would be wrong of us to make any promise in respect of any anticipated success in your case.
1. Understanding your Situation
We understand your circumstances and the frustration, emotion and financial challenge Family Court.
In general we do not support an adversarial journey into Family Court. We will always encourage a respectful dialogue between all parties involved in your dispute.
3. Preparing your Application
If you are already involved with Family Court or need to apply yourself we can assist you in preparing you.
Help with selecting and completing the right forms in the right way is as essential as understanding your legal scenario. Whatever your needs we can guide you through the process using our wealth of knowledge and experience.
2. Developing a Strategy
Developing a strategy around your circumstances is an important part of our service and commitment to you.
A sound strategy, together with a meaningful dialogue can reduce conflict between parents and their children.
We would always recommend mediation before litigation and point out that many of our clients avoid going to court altogether.
4. Attending Court with You
Attending Family Court can be a daunting task for anyone. We can be with you and will support you.
In times of stress, it may be difficult to focus and make sense of court procedures. Having someone knowledgeable to assist you and provide you with moral support helps to relieve some of the high emotions legal proceedings create.
You can ask us to work for you as much, or as little, as you need. Many clients use us in much the same way as they would a solicitor, whereas others prefer to handle much of their case themselves, referring to us for help at Court. It is entirely up to you how you make use of our experience.
However, always remember that a Litigant in Person has the legal right to have assistance from a layperson in Family Court.
How much does it cost?
The fees we charge (not all McKenzie friends do) are significantly cheaper than solicitors fees and competitive with other companies who offer the same services. If you need assistance with fees let us know or see the funding link at the bottom of this page and email us your information for consideration.
